Seats
How the seat limit actually behaves
Seats are the one limit you will meet in normal use, so it is worth being precise about them.
- What a seat is
- One launcher session that is live right now. Installing on a second machine costs nothing; running both at the same time needs two seats.
- When one is taken
- At the moment the launcher redeems its single-use launch ticket, not when the application window opens.
- When one comes back
- Closing the launcher releases it. A launcher that stops sending heartbeats loses its lease about 90 seconds later and the seat returns without anyone doing anything.
- When they run out
- The launch is refused with a seat-limit response that tells the launcher when to try again. Nothing is queued and nothing extra is charged.
- How many you get
- The subscription carries one. A redeemed license key carries the count it was issued with. Your account shows the cap and the sessions currently holding a seat.
License keys
Access without a subscription
A redeemed key grants the same entitlement for a fixed period.
- What a license key is
- A key you redeem in your account instead of subscribing. It grants the same launcher access for a fixed period.
- Seats on a key
- The key carries its own seat count, set when it was issued.
- How to use one
- Sign in, open your account and redeem the key there. No payment details are involved.
Billing
Payment, access and cancellation
Where the money is handled, and what actually turns access on and off.
- Payment
- Checkout and the billing portal are hosted by our payment provider. Card details are entered there and never reach this site.
- How access is granted
- This site sends a plan identifier and nothing else. Access is turned on from the subscription state we read back from the provider, not from the page your browser lands on.
- Cancelling
- Cancel in the billing portal. Access runs to the end of the period on record and then stops; the launcher refuses new sessions from that point.
- Refunds and taxes
- Handled by the payment provider at checkout and in the portal, in the currency it shows you there.
